This species found in the wild from
Central Mexico through Central America and Western South
America. It is naturally adapted to high rainforests and is
cultivated for its sweet yellow to
purplish fruits. Vining to 5m with leaves broadly ovate to
15cm with 10cm flowers greenish white with petals white or tinged
pink. The
long tendrils need lots of support for climbing, it may also be
grown as a houseplant in a sunny South-facing window.
Will tolerate light frosts but prefers to be frost free over
winter.
